It’s chilly and windy out, my evening family plans were postponed, and my girlfriend is at work for a couple more hours, so I’m having a beer. I quite like this variant of Jai Alai that I picked up on a whim the other day. It’s good...very flavorful.

It is. I had some regular Jai Alai last week at a friend’s place. This version has a little more flavor variety to it.

I lost count of how many coffees I’ve had today.

As a result, I’m about to make more.

It’s 75 and sunny here and I just got done doing my front yard spring cleanup. Cheap 7% ale from Trader Joes. Says on the back it’s made by Rhinelander Brewing in Wisconsin. Never heard of them, but it is decent and only $4.99 for a sixxer.

Ummm, probably a couple or three of these, plus a growler or two for home use. Haven’t yet decided on beer #2 yet. An Irish Stout was first. A really good dark beer, a bit lighter than a Guinness.

Fun fact about the name!

Jai alai is a sport originating in Basque Country (roughly northern Spain) involving a ball bounced off a walled space by accelerating it to high speeds with a hand-held device. The Basque Government promotes jai alai as “the fastest sport in the world” because of the speed of the ball. The sport once held the world record for ball speed with a 125–140 g ball covered with goatskin that traveled at 302 km/h (188 mph)

Neat. I’m not the biggest fan of Jai Alai but white oak sounds interesting.
